We have created this list according to the data of 2023, which is different from the data of previous years. 10. Austria – 30 million visitors
International tourist arrivals: 30.9 million
Tourism in Austria is an important part of the country’s economy, accounting for approximately 9% of Austrian GDP. With 30 million tourists in 2023, Austria is among the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

In the winter season, several winter sports resorts in Western Austria overtake Austria in the number of overnight tourist stays: Sölden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Ischgl, Sankt Anton am Arlberg and Obertauern.

09. Greece – 32 million visitors

07. United Kingdom – 37 million visitors

The United Kingdom has always been a popular tourist destination. It is the seventh largest tourist destination in the world, with more than 37 million visitors in 2023. From the lush hills of Wales, the Highlands of Scotland and the famous Cliffs of Moher to the fast-paced city of London, the United Kingdom offers something interesting for all types of tourists.
Furthermore, the United Kingdom is visited for its many prestigious universities and colleges such as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford among many others and students from all over the world visit the UK for their studies.

06. Mexico – 42 million visitors

03. United States – 66 million visitors

Tourism is a large industry in the United States with millions of international and domestic tourists visiting annually. The United States is the third among the 10 most visited countries in the world.
Foreigners visit the US to see natural wonders, cities, historical sites, and entertainment venues. Americans look for similar attractions, as well as entertainment and vacation areas.
However, people visit the US for business as much as they do for leisure. The United States has a lot to offer to tourists such as ski resorts, sandy beaches, food belonging to most cultures around the world, and designer apparel in metropolitan cities.
Tourists spend more money in the United States than any other country, while attracting the third highest number of tourists after France and Spain.
02. Spain – 85 million visitors

Spain ranks second in the list of the 10 most visited countries in the world by 2025. Tourism in Spain is the third major contributor to national economic life, after the industrial and trade/banking sectors.
Since the 1960s and 1970s, Spain has been a popular destination for summer holidays, drawing large numbers of tourists, particularly from the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, the Benelux, and the United States.
The most popular tourist destinations in Spain include the Generalife and Alhambra Gardens, the Great Mosque of Cordoba, also known as the Mezquita, the Paseo del Artes and the Prado Art Museum. Seville Cathedral and Alcazar which have been declared National Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Another tourist attraction in Spain is the beach called Costa del Sol, which literally means “Coast of the Sun”. Furthermore, sports fans have their reasons to visit Spain, as it is home to two famous football clubs, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
