Want to know which is the most visited country in the world by 2024? The world’s 10 most visited countries have been identified using the World Tourism Barometer created by the United Nations. We have used data for 2022 in this list which is different from the data of previous years. Let’s start with the 10th country in the list of Top 10 Most Visited Countries in the World by 2024.
10. Austria – 26.2 million
Tourism in Austria is an important part of the country’s economy, accounting for approximately 9% of Austrian GDP. With 26.2 million tourists in 2022, Austria is among the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
Austria has one guest bed for every six inhabitants, and has the highest per capita income from tourism in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. In 2007, Austria ranked 9th worldwide in international tourism receipts, with US$18.9 billion. Austria ranks 12th in international tourist arrivals with 30.8 million tourists.
Vienna attracts a large proportion of tourists in both summer and winter. Nearly one-fifth as many tourists stay overnight in Austria as in Vienna, placing it in second place during the summer season.
In the winter season, several winter sports resorts in Western Austria overtake Austria in the number of overnight tourist stays: Sölden, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Ischgl, Sankt Anton am Arlberg and Obertauern.

09. Greece – 27.8 million
Greece is one of the most popular LGBT tourist destinations in Europe. Greece received 27.8 million tourists in 2022, making it one of the most popular destinations in the world. Religious tourism and pilgrimage, ecotourism, conference tourism and medical tourism are prominent in Greece, and initiatives are also being taken to promote seasonal tourism.

The country offers tourist activities such as going on river cruises on the Main and Rhine gorges and enjoying what is called Oktoberfest.
While some tourists enjoy exploring the German countryside with its grand old castles and vast vineyards, others prefer the nightlife of the cosmopolitan city of Hamburg and admire the classical architecture in Erfurt.
According to surveys, the top three reasons tourists visit Germany are German culture, outdoor activities and the countryside, and German cities.

07. United Kingdom – 30.7 million
The United Kingdom has always been a popular tourist destination. It is the seventh largest tourist destination in the world, with more than 30.7 million visitors in 2022. From the lush hills of Wales, the Highlands of Scotland and the famous Cliffs of Moher to the fast-paced city of London, the United Kingdom offers something interesting for all types of tourists.
Furthermore, the United Kingdom is visited for its many prestigious universities and colleges such as the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford among many others and students from all over the world visit the UK for their studies.
The major tourist destinations of the country are London, Edinburgh, Oxford, Cambridge, York and Canterbury. The United Kingdom hosts a total of 32 World Heritage Sites, the 8th most in the world.
Additionally, the Lonely Planet travel guide voted England as number 2, behind Bhutan, as one of the best countries to visit in 2020. Some of the most popular cities include London, Edinburgh and Manchester.

06. Mexico – 38.3 million
Mexico has a significant number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These include ancient ruins, colonial cities and nature reserves, as well as many works of modern public and private architecture. Mexico is 6th among the 10 most visited countries in the world.
The country is very popular among tourists due to the wide range of activities available to tourists. Tourism is a very important industry in Mexico. Since the 1960s, it has been highly promoted by the Mexican government as “an industry without smoking”.

05. Italy – 49.8 million

04. Turkey – 50.5 million
Turkey has been a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world. Turkey has also become a popular destination for culture and health care. Tourism in the country focuses largely on various historical sites, and on seaside resorts along its Aegean and Mediterranean coasts.
Additionally, Turkey’s traditional and cultural heritage can be explored by visiting sites such as Hagia Sophia, also known as Hagia Sophia, Cappadocia, and the Blue Mosque.

02. Spain – 71.7 million
Spain ranks second in the list of the 10 most visited countries in the world. Tourism in Spain is the third major contributor to national economic life, after the industrial and trade/banking sectors.
Since the 1960s and 1970s, Spain has been a popular destination for summer holidays, drawing large numbers of tourists, particularly from the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, the Benelux, and the United States.
The most popular tourist destinations in Spain include the Generalife and Alhambra Gardens, the Great Mosque of Cordoba, also known as the Mezquita, the Paseo del Artes and the Prado Art Museum. Seville Cathedral and Alcazar which have been declared National Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Another tourist attraction in Spain is the beach called Costa del Sol, which literally means “Coast of the Sun”. Furthermore, sports fans have their reasons to visit Spain, as it is home to two famous football clubs, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

01. France – 79.4 million
France is the most visited country in the world by 2024. It has many tourist attractions such as the world famous Louvre Museum, Eiffel Tower, Palace of Versailles, Mont Saint-Michel, Rocamadour and Alux village and many other attractive villages.
